At Creative Cakes in Tinley Park, an average wedding cake costs $500.
But for Christopher Knight, better known as Peter Brady from "The Brady Bunch," and his new wife, Adrienne Curry, a model and Joliet native, the tab was $1,250.
The pricey dessert tied into the couple's theme of "Phantom of the Opera" for their recent wedding at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet.
"She's very dramatic," Beth Fahey, co-owner of Creative Cakes, said of Curry. "She wasn't a bridezilla or anything, just down to earth. He's a very smart guy."
The elegant five-tier red velvet and white cake had strawberry mousse filling, scrollwork, a ribbon at the base, flowers and fondant, and ceramic-looking smooth icing. It also had a Wilton topper of a bride chasing a groom. The cake served 260 guests.
Not only were Fahey and her sister, Becky Palermo, a longtime cake decorator, chosen to make the cake, they're also featured on VH1's "My Fair Brady: We're Getting Married." The episode titled "Something Old, Something New (Joliet Part Two)" will air Sunday and be repeated Monday, Thursday and July 15.
"I was a little surprised, because there are so many bakeries," Fahey said of the initial query from the show's production team. "But for the South Side and the south suburbs, we are probably the most contemporary bakery. The designs we do are current, not the bridges and fountains that were big in the '80s."
Fahey and Palermo, both New Lenox residents, met Knight and Curry in February.
"They made an appointment just like anyone else," Fahey said. "They were very nice, like any other bride and groom."
It wasn't Fahey's first brush with fame, though. Before purchasing Creative Cakes four years ago, Fahey lived in California and worked as a camera assistant on such films as "Groundhog Day."
Curry was the first "America's Next Top Model" winner. She and Knight became romantically involved on VH1's reality show "The Surreal Life." That was followed by "My Fair Brady," which documented the couple's life and included locally shot scenes with Curry's parents at places such as Uncle Richie's Place in Lockport and McBrody's in downtown Joliet.
